9Being the Junior Road Safety Officer Prefects in Year 6 has been amazing. We led the rest of the Junior Road Safety Committee in lots of projects and activities to promote active and safety travel. Each term we were joined by 10 new committee members from Years 1 to 5. We have achieved so much as a team this year.In the Autumn term we organised a brilliant %u2018Be Bright, Be Seen%u2019 assembly at both Upper School and Junior House. We encouraged students to wear bright clothing or have reflective material on bags when walking to and from school so that they could be seen in the dark as the days were getting shorter. We also ran a Junior Road Safety Team stall at the Christmas Fayre where we organised road safety games and activities to raise awareness of road safety with pupils and parents. We also went on School patrol with our local PCSO to monitor parking around the school streets. Our Spring term project was to promote Walk to School Week. In March we promoted a school walking bus for one week. It started at St Michael%u2019s Green, went through to Ledborough Lane and up to Upper School. Even though it was pouring with rain, loads of girls showed up with very dedicated parents so thank you to them. And, finally, in the Summer term we had our Bike to School Week. Alongside this fun-packed week, two parent volunteers conducted a bike workshop to teach everyone how to fix bikes, pump up tyres etc A very big thank you goes to Mr Edney and Mr Brookes. Throughout that week we had two static bikes lent by Mr Perry and Mrs Walker-Stidder. We challenged the girls to cycle the length of the United Kingdom -1,406km - and the girls tried very hard to exceed that. All in all, an amazing year! Thank you to all the girls who volunteered to be part of our Junior Road Safety Committee. And a HUGE thank you to Mrs Walker-Stidder for helping us with all assemblies and wild but fun ideas. Well done to everyone who took up the challenge of active travel this year. Thank you, one and all! By Holly and Fatimah A Year of Green Action This year has been a busy and inspiring one for the Eco Committee, with pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 working together to promote sustainability and environmental awareness across our school and local community. We kicked off the year with Switch Off Fortnight in November, encouraging everyone to reduce energy consumption by turning off lights, devices and appliances when not in use. Pupils created posters and reminders to spread the message throughout the school. In December, the Eco Team ran a festive stall at the Christmas Fayre, selling delicious eco-themed biscuits. These treats were made with sustainable ingredients helping to raise awareness (and funds!) in a fun and tasty way. March was all about Waste Week, with a special emphasis on reducing food waste. All collected food waste was sent for composting, helping to close the loop on food sustainability. The Eco Team also ventured out to Beaconsfield for lunchtime litter picking, helping to keep our local area clean and green. Their efforts were warmly praised by local residents, showing the positive impact of community action. In June, the Eco Committee led a school-wide assembly for World Environment Day, focusing on the importance of biodiversity. Pupils learned about the many species of butterflies found in the UK and were invited to take part in a butterfly survey. A huge thank you to our dedicated Year 6 prefects, Lila and Matilda, for their leadership and enthusiasm throughout the year. We also extend our gratitude to all the termly committee members from Years 1 to 5 who have helped make a real difference. Together, we have shown that small actions and eco-friendly adventures can lead to big changes! SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN & ECO
