The High March Ball returned after an absence of five years and it really did prove to be a night to remember. It was set in the idyllic Pigeon House Meadow on the Hall Barn Estate and was an evening of delicious cuisine, fine wines, great music and, of course, scintillating company!
As always, the lion’s share of the proceeds from the Ball directly benefit charities dear to the heart of the High March community and which are committed to improving the lives of people in Buckinghamshire.
We are delighted to announce that a magnificent total of £61,000 was raised and this will be distributed as follows:
£40,000 to the new ‘Stoke Mandeville Children’s Accident & Emergency Unit’ through Heart of Bucks Community Foundation. This donation will add child friendly sensory activities and toys in the waiting rooms which will benefit all children, but, in particular, neurodivergent children. Funds will also cover colourful artwork for in-patient children’s wards.
£5,000 to ‘Children Heard & Seen’ through Heart of Bucks. This money gives online support for children living in Buckinghamshire to help break the inter-generational cycle of offending.
£1,000 to the ‘NSPCC’, the School’s dedicated charity since 1948.
£15,000 will fund a new installation of a ‘Sun Sail’ at Upper School to create a covered, shaded area at the back of the playground to help protect the girls from the sun during the increasingly hot weather.
A big thank-you to the following members of the Ball Committee who invested so much time and effort into making ‘Le Cirque des Rêves’ such a memorable occasion: Belinda Avery, Rachel Cunliffe, Caroline Davis King, Emily Gillespie, Soula Joiner, Soph Patel and Jo Stevenson. Thank you also to Caroline Harman who represented Heart of Bucks at the various meetings.
